A middle aged man has embarked on a run from Nakuru to Mombasa in a bid to raise money for children with cancer.
Tobias Ngala says that he is planning to raise at least Ksh. 645,000 in the 645 Kilometer run.
Ngala who currently resides in Nakuru, started the journey on Wednesday and is planning to finish it on Sunday.
He says that the initiative started after he got touched by the plight of a single mother living right above his apartment with her sick child.
He says that the boy who is in severe pain would cry at night keeping his mother up.
“I was moved by the young boy’s situation and that’s why I decided to dedicate my 41st birthday to raising funds for children with cancer, so that they would not suffer like my neighbor’s son did,” said Ngala.
By Friday last week, Ngala had managed to raise Sh. 91,600. He said he hopes to surpass the Sh. 200,000 mark by Friday and hit the target after he completes the race.
“Small businesses and well-wishers have been supporting the course, with much of the funding coming from friends and relatives. I am hopeful more people will come in and support me,” he said.
