The High Court has thrown out a petition by former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko challenging the nomination and swearing in of Governor Anne Kananu.
The ruling delivered by a three judge benched ruled that the nomination, vetting and appointment of Kananu was according to the constitution.
Justice Wilfrida Okwany who read the ruling also dismissed a letter by Sonko revoking the nomination of Kananu.
“From the above analysis it is our finding that the nomination, vetting approval and swearing in of Anne Kananu as the Deputy Governor was constitutional and applied with the applicable laws,” said Okwany.
“Consequently we finmd that all the petitions challenging her ascendency to the position of Deputy Governor are without merit and are hereby dismissed,” she stated.
