Fashion is both a mode of expression and a lifestyle. What you choose to buy and wear speaks volumes and allows your creativity to shine through wherever you go.
As the fashion industry expands, there are changes all over the place. Some trends are dying out and at the same time, new artistic directions are being embraced.
Before you shoot the messenger, let me be the first one to state that we are not fortune tellers in regards to fashion, and the direction it will take in the future. This, however, does not stop us from speculating and predicting where it is going.
Whether you agree or choose to disagree, this is where we think fashion will be heading in the near future
Fashion industries have been guilty of environmental degradation for a long time. The process of production has been scrutinized and it’s clear that much change is needed. Aside from the fashion industry, there are other reasons why we’re now suffering the consequences of a slowly depreciating environment. People are now turning to sustainable solutions to reduce some of these environmental problems.
As far as the fashion industry is concerned, there are more businesses that prioritize ethical products coming up. This is one of the things that will define fashion in the future.
The future of mankind is technology and this will also reflect in what we wear. There will be a large market for smart clothes and brands that are very tech-savvy. Already there are clothes that have incorporated tech in them but this market is still likely to grow. This is especially possible because people are drawn to clothes that can help with health and medicine, those that can streamline fitness and generally clothes that can make tasks easier like wireless phone charging.
The future of fashion might be all about efficiency and minimalism aligns with that. People will be more focused on their personal goals, careers and ambitions, which might actually leave less time for complicated outfit choices. Simple fashion will no longer be boring because this will also give room for a lot of creativity in the future.
Metallic colors have a certain futuristic feel to them. Many people are tired of experimenting with normal colors so adding that metallic touch breathes life to any outfit. Already a big deal, metallics are being incorporated in practically everything. In the near future, you will find these beautiful hues in hair, nails, not forgetting bikinis and dresses.
Designers have been pushing boundaries and challenging the usual heel designs we’re all used to seeing. Everything from the heel shapes to the materials are changing which is good news for all women around the world. Truth is, there will be many innovative designs, it will be impossible to find one you don’t love.
Thanks to many great creatives in Africa, our continent’s fashion is fast becoming a worldwide fad. From the prints, fabrics, to the style. African designs are all about colors and flair so there’s a lot of space for creativity when it comes to this. Many creators are working to combine traditional African fashion with contemporary style to give it a modern twist. Also, the original designs aren’t going out of style either because Africans will always be proud of their culture and heritage.
