Kenya national football team Harambee Stars lost 4-1 to Eritrea in the ongoing CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup semi-final in a match that was played at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo on Tuesday 17th December.
Goals from Abel Okbay, Michael Habte Gebremesqel and Robel Kidane followed Oscar Wamalwa’s own goal and were enough to send the Stars packing, with their lone goal coming from Wamalwa in the second half.
With their 4-1 win against Harambee Stars, Eritrea has now won three consecutive matches against Kenya following their 2-1 win in 2006 and 1-0 win in 2007. The first two wins came during Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Harambee Stars will now face Tanzania’s Taifa Stars who lost 1-0 to Uganda for a 3rd place playoff in a match scheduled for Thursday 19th. The final between Eritrea and Uganda will be played on the same day.
