World 800 m record holder David Rudisha is set to make a major comeback after missing out in action for over a year due to recurring injuries.
2019 has been a rocky year for the world record holder who has faced a myriad of challenges, from family issues to career-threatening injuries.
A few months ago, Rudisha’s wife took to social media to reveal the frustration and mistreatment she was receiving from the Olympic champion who sources reveal that had turned out to be an alcoholic after the death of his father.
Well, despite all the controversies and injuries, Rudisha has fully recovered and resumed training in preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where he is set to break his record of 1:40.91.
He opened up on his plan ahead of the Olympics during an interview with K24.
“I have fully recovered and resumed my training sessions. My main aim is to defend my Olympic title in Tokyo. I know that won’t be easy but I will try my best. I am also working on shedding my weight first then see how my body responds to training,” said Rudisha.
