A 24-year-old student from Murang’a University has been arrested by detectives after allegedly killing his estranged lover’s 3-year-old son.
Murang’a County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua said the third-year criminology student led detectives to a thicket where he dumped the little boy’s lifeless body after committing the heinous crime.
Mr. Kinyua said the boy’s body had severe injuries on the face and head, and that the suspect claimed he killed the young boy after being possessed by evil spirits.
“The suspect led our officers to the area where he dumped the boy’s body after committing the crime. He claimed that he had been possessed with evil spirits. He will be charged with murder,” Mr. Kinyua said.
The boy’s disappearance was reported at Murang’a Police Station on December 5, 2019. The boy’s mother said the suspect took the boy to his rental house near the university.
When he went missing, she became curious and reported the matter to the police who begun the search immediately.
The police boss advised the public and those in love to find peaceful ways to resolve their marital issues instead of taking law in their own hands.
“No one should kill because he or she has been aggrieved. When one feels he is not happy with his friend or he has been offended, one has the option of walking away or even reporting the matter to the police instead of killing,” he said.
