Two police officers were put in handcuffs after they allegedly carjacked a taxi driver in Eastleigh estate in Nairobi.
The officers were in civilian when they were arrested and taken to custody. This came after one of them driving the car crashed it at Kilimanjaro Roundabout in Eastleigh at around 1am.
Speaking to the police, the taxi driver said he had dropped a client in Mathare when the two officers got into the car and asked to be dropped in Pangani area.
Along the way they forced him to stop the car and then took control, forcing him to take the back seat.
After losing control and crashing the car at a roundabout barrier in Eastleigh, the two officers tried to escape but were intercepted by police officers who were on patrol in the area while members of the public also responded to screams of the taxi driver.
The two officers were found to be attached to Quarry Police Post in Embakasi and Muthaiga Police Station respectively. They have since been sacked. This is the latest in a series of incidences where police officers are involved in crime. Last week, two officers were shot dead in a foiled robbery incident in the city.
