KCB was too much to handle for Kariobangi Sharks as they emerged 5-2 winners in a Kenyan Premier League match played at Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani on Saturday afternoon.
Reagan Otieno put two past Sharks goalkeeper with veteran Enock Agwanda, Simon Abuko and Samuel Mwangi adding a goal each to put their rivals to the sword.
Sharks got their goals from Julius Masaba and Duke Abuya, and their coach William Muluya said the players’ individual mistakes is what led to the heavy loss.
“We played well and were even ahead at some point in the game, but some avoidable mistakes cost us the game. Going forward the players will need to be mentally very strong to get us out of the bad spell,” he said
His opposite number Zedekiah Otieno was full of praise for his players and urged them to maintain the consistency in the upcoming fixtures.
“This is a big win for us and I am very happy with the performance of the boys. I know we have a good team this season but we need to maintain the focus and replicate this sort of performance in the upcoming games as well,” he said.
In another match at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Wazito registered an impressive 6-0 win against struggling Chemelil Sugar with former Nzoia Sugar striker Elvis Rupia netting a hat-trick to lead the top scorers chart with 8 goals. Other goal scorers were Derick Otanga, Victor Ndinya and Pistone Mutamba.
The win takes Wazito FC to 11th on the table with 11 points, three points above the relegation zone. Chemelil, on the other hand, are yet to register a single win in the league, and sit 15th with one point from 11 games.
