
Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga’s rich vein of form saw him put 8 past Japanese League 2 opponents Kyoto Sanga as his side Kashiwa Reysol emerged 13-1 winners.
The seven goals saw the striker, alias ‘engineer’ finish the season with 26 goals, second behind top scorer Leonardo Nascimento Lopes de Souza who finished the season with 28 goals.
The Kenyan striker opened the scoring in the 6th minute before adding two more goals in the 23rd and 33rd minutes to give his side a 4-1 lead at half time.
The second half saw his team score nine more goals, with him scoring five of the goals to take his season tally to 26 goals.
This is the first time the lethal striker has scored 7 goals in a single match and had never finished a season in his career with more than 20 goals, with his highest tally being 19 goals when he was playing for Gor Mahia in 2015.
The win meant Kashiwa Reysol finished the season at the top of J-League 2 table on 84 points, five points ahead of their closest rivals Yokohama FC.
