Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has accused Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Jeffah Amason Kingi for blindly following opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Jumwa noted that the two Coast political heavyweights have been nothing but cowards and incompetent, which has left the locals in abject poverty.
Jumwa warned Kingi to brace himself for political power struggle with her, claiming she will go head to head against the governor in a bid to redeem the coastal community from political anguish and life of poverty.
“There is no leader in Kilifi County who is advancing the agenda of the people of this county. What Kingi and his team are doing is to worship the party and one person. He has forgotten about the people who are now languishing in abject poverty,” said the agitated Jumwa.
Jumwa also accused Governor Joho of betraying the people of coastal region by dining and wining with President Uhuru Kenyatta while his people languish in poverty and the youths get addicted to drugs.
“Joho used to be vocal in addressing the grievances of our people but has now forgotten about it and is following the President. He said he will no longer stand to abuse the president. There is no problem, but that does not mean you cannot defend our people as you used to do before,” said Jumwa.
She also noted that the people of Kilifi County were betrayed by ODM after giving the position of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) to Raila Odinga’s brother, Oburu Odinga, yet it had been reserved for them.
“We have supported Raila for 15 years and we have gotten nothing. We were promised to get the EALA position but it was given to Oburu Odinga. Kingi knows this but has remained mum. He is only worshipping one man and the party. What a shame Kingi, what a shame Kingi,” she said.
In conclusion, Jumwa hinted that she will be contesting for Kilifi gubernatorial seat, claiming if Kingi cannot help the people that she will do so herself.
“I want to tell you what Kingi cannot do, Aisha Jumwa will do it better,” she said
