Tough economic times have forced Mediamax ltd to ‘massacre’ a great number of senior editors and anchors at the group’s various media stations, in a bid to cut down on production costs.
Close sources intimate that the media group is retrenching about 160 employees, with the purge mainly focusing on senior editors and anchors who draw hefty salaries.
This is actually going to be the biggest media layoff to have ever been witnessed in Kenya. A similar situation was witnessed in 2017 when Standard Media Group retrenched over 100 workers.
Most of those who have already been handed their massacre letters are prominent anchors who have for several years graced our screens on various media stations.
